MT. VERNON, IL — A 42-year-old Dix man was formally charged Friday morning in Jefferson County Court with aggravated sexual abuse of two juvenile sisters.

According to Detective Bobby Wallace of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Brian Teriet [tehr-ee-ay] was arrested Thursday following an investigation.

Wallace says one sister disclosed information alleging indecent touching by Teriet a few years ago.

That led to an investigation and additional allegations that he had also inappropriately touched the other sister. One girl was reportedly 13 or 14 and the time of the allegations and the other was 15.

The investigation led to prosecutors filing three Class 2 felony counts against Teriet Friday for aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim more than five years younger than him.

Bond in the case remains to be set and Teriet remains in the Jefferson County Jail.
