FAYETTE COUNTY, IL — A bench warrant was issued Tuesday in Fayette County Court for a 34-year-old Ramsey man charged in a 2021 case with attacking sheriff’s deputies who had responded to a domestic battery report. Jackie Matherly was ordered at a court hearing last month to report to probation that day for drug testing and another hearing was scheduled for May 3. However, according to court records, Matherly failed to report for that test.

Then on Tuesday, when the case was called in court, Matherly attempted to appear via Zoom, despite the court previously instructing him to appear in person. Judge Marc Kelly then issued a bench warrant for Matherly’s arrest. The case was filed in February 2021, after Matherly allegedly kicked and attempted to disarm a sheriff’s deputy responding to a domestic battery call. He was arrested and charged in court with Class 2 felonies for allegedly attempting to disarm a police officer, and two counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer, as well as misdemeanor charges for alleged domestic battery and resisting a peace officer.

Bond was set at $35,000 and Matherly had been free since posting bond last March.
