CLAY COUNTY, IL — The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a weekend stabbing that sent a 23-year-old man to the hospital for treatment.

According to reports, around 1:48 a.m. Sunday, deputies were dispatched to a report of a stabbing in Stanford Township. The sheriff’s office learned there had been an altercation between multiple people at a party. During the altercation a 23-year-old male subject received multiple stab wounds to the body. He was transported from the scene to a nearby residence prior to the arrival of emergency personnel. Upon the arrival of emergency personnel, the victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital and then air lifted to a regional hospital. The victim is believed to have serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is asking for anyone that was a witness to the incident that has not been interviewed or if you have further information to contact the sheriff’s office at 618-665-3316 and speak with Deputy Trevin Smith.
