SANDOVAL — A 30-year-old Sandoval man remains in the Marion County Jail following his arrest Wednesday for allegedly entering a home and beating a person inside.

Sandoval police arrested Jonathan Kaufman on charges of burglary, aggravated battery, criminal trespass to a residence, and criminal trespass to land.

The charges stem from an alleged incident Wednesday afternoon at a home in the 300 block of South Maple in Sandoval, where Kaufman allegedly was on the roof of the home and attempting to enter through a second-story door.

The homeowner reportedly told Kaufman to get off the roof and the two became involved in an altercation.

Kaufman is said to have then gone into another building where he retrieved a pipe, ultimately threatening a neighbor with the piece of pipe.

Sandoval police soon arrived and Kaufman was taken into custody. He was transported to the Marion County Jail to await the formal filing of charges and the setting of bail.

The incident occurred at 2:42 on Wednesday afternoon.
