MT. VERNON — Mt. Vernon police are investigating a report of shots being fired toward a crowd on 18th near Lamar Thursday night.

According to reports, the suspect is known to police but fled the scene before officers arrived.

Police received calls just before 9:30 Thursday night of a person shooting into a crowd. They were told the suspect fled the scene in a black Nissan.
