(MT. VERNON, IL) — Law enforcement in Jefferson County and Mt. Vernon arrested multiple individuals today in the latest warrant sweep through the county. Authorities were seeking a total of 15 individuals, with 10 of those arrested or currently in custody. Those include 49-year-old Edith Buchanan, of Mt. Vernon for possession of methamphetamine precursors; 36-year-old Harry Mulkey of Mt. Vernon and 36-year-old Kip Woodgett in Graham Correctional Center, both for unlawful delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a church; 34-year-old Lisa Johnson, of Mt. Vernon, for manufacture of meth; 46-year-old Roy E. Baker, of Mt. Vernon on two counts unlawful delivery of a lookalike substance and manufacture of meth; 32-year-old Sheila Brown, of Mt. Vernon for unlawful delivery of a controlled substance; 35-year-old Thomas Bigley, of Bluford, for possession of meth manufacturing chemicals; and 36-year-old Travis Darden for possession of meth precursors. The warrants were issued by the Jefferson County States Attorney’s office and were signed by the Honorable Judge Jo Beth Weber, after approximately eight months of on-going investigations by the MVPD/JCSO Narcotics Division. The 15 warrants issued are all for drug related charges which include 10 for meth related charges, one for cannabis, three for prescription pill charges, and one for drug equipment charges. While arresting Harry Mullkey during this morning’s warrant sweep, officers reportedly observed indicators of methamphetamine manufacturing at the residence in the 300 block South 3rd in Mt Vernon. Authorities applied for and received a search warrant for the home and located items related to the manufacture of meth and meth was located. Mulkey was additionally charged with Possession of methamphetamine manufacturing materials, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug equipment.
