(Alton, IL) — A Madison County grand jury has indicted an Alton police officer for allegedly destroying evidence in a pending sexual abuse case. Thirty-eight-year-old Jonathan Forrler is charged with official misconduct for destroying an evidence kit and clothing that were to be used by prosecutors in an upcoming misdemeanor sex abuse case. In addition, prosecutors say Forrler has also improperly disposed of evidence in one-hundred-30 other cases, an alleged pattern of behavior uncovered through an investigation by state and local police along with the FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s office.
