The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is warning local residents of a recent phone scam in which a caller claims to be a grandchild who has been arrested or in an accident and needs money for attorney fees.

Authorities say this is a scam and warns residents to not fall for it.

The explain that the scammers are very convincing and can make the situation sound legitimate but in reality are just preying on kind hearted individuals in an attempt to get their hard earned money.
