FAYETTE COUNTY — The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department has released more information surrounding the Monday arrest of a 20-year-old Carlyle man for alleged sexual assault.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, around 5 a.m. Monday, they received a call reporting a sexual assault that had just occurred in rural Mulberry Grove.

The caller reported Jacob McCord was caught in the act of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl. A witness reportedly confronted McCord and a physical altercation ensued with McCord fleeing the scene on foot.

Fayette County and Bond County deputies responded to the scene and attempted to locate McCord. During the investigation into the alleged sexual assault, investigators received information McCord was possibly inside a camper trailer located at KVS Gun Club in Keyesport, where deputies ultimately located him.

He was taken into custody and transported to the Fayette County Jail. He was formally charged Tuesday with Class 1 felony criminal sexual assault using force as well as Class 4 felony sexual abuse using force.

Judge Allan Lolie found McCord poses a real and present threat to the alleged victim and that no condition or combination of conditions of release would protect that person.

Not only did Judge Lolie order McCord to have no contact with the alleged victim based on his findings, but also ordered him detained in the Fayette County Jail pending trial.

A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for May 15.
