KELL, IL — A 42-year-old Mt. Vernon man has been arrested on a $50,000 Marion County warrant charging him with burglary of a rural Kell home. According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, Daniel Morton was wanted in connection with a burglary earlier this month to a detached garage at a home on Route 37 near Kell.
The homeowners were reportedly sleeping in the nearby house when the break-in occurred. They noticed the burglary when they found some of their belongings in the roadside ditch outside their home the next morning. Some of the stolen tools have not yet been recovered.
Morton was arrested on the outstanding warrant by Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies and then transported back to the Marion County Jail.
