CENTRAL CITY, IL — Central City Police arrested a 33-year-old woman for aggravated battery to an 8-year-old boy. According to police, Hillery Booth was arrested when she went in for questioning regarding an alleged incident Monday when the boy in her care was later found to have significant bruising to his face, arms and shoulder.
The boy’s grandfather reportedly has custody of the child. He took the boy to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment and reported the incident. The Department of Children and Family Services has already issued an order of protection against Booth preventing her from having any further contact with the child. She was formally charged Thursday afternoon in Marion County Court with Class 3 felony aggravated battery of a child under the age of 13.
Her bond was set at $10,000 and she’s next scheduled to appear in court April 12 for a preliminary hearing and a first appearance with a court appointed attorney.
