WAYNE COUNTY, IL — A retired Wayne County school teacher has died in a fatal crash Wednesday afternoon on Illinois Route 15 near the Wayne-Jefferson County line. 68-year-old Kathy Richardson of Geff was traveling eastbound on Illinois Route 15 just east of Wayne County Road 105 East in a 2014 Buick Enclave when, for unknown reasons, the Illinois State Police say she crossed the center line and struck a semi driven by 45-year-old Robert Cline of Cisne.

Police said Cline swerved right and attempted to avoid the collision, but was struck in the front driver side by Richardson’s car. Cline reported no injuries in the crash. Richardson’s 12-year-old granddaughter was also unhurt.

The crash was reported just at 12pm Wednesday and Illinois Route 15 was closed until around 4:40 pm to allow the Wayne County coroner and State Police officers to investigate the crash.
