Cape Girardeau Man Facing Murder Charge in Wife’s Death in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, IL — A Cape Girardeau man has been arrested in connection with a homicide reported Tuesday night in the 1100 block of East College Street in Carbondale. According to Carbondale Police, the victim has been identified as 26-year-old Gloria Hopkins of Carbondale. Police determined she was the victim of a domestic incident with her husband, 27-year-old Gregory Hopkins of Cape Girardeau.

Investigators worked with the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office and got an arrest warrant for Gregory Hopkins charging him with First Degree Murder and Aggravated Domestic Battery. Investigators determined Gregory Hopkins fled from Carbondale and traveled to the Los Angeles area. Los Angeles Police found Gregory Hopkins and arrested him Thursday. He is currently being held in Los Angeles awaiting extradition back to Jackson County.
