Ameren & National Weather Service say preparation and knowledge most important during severe weather

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS (WBC/DANA COMM.) — Ameren Illinois and the National Weather Service say the severe weather threats Friday are a good reminder to be prepared for future storms.

Chris Miller with the National Weather Service is refreshing everyone on the terminology you might see or hear during severe weather.

Ameren staged numerous trucks and storm trailers in the Mt. Vernon area Friday in preparation of storms. Senior Director of Division Operations Daetta Jones says the idea of the storm trailers is to help get power back on quicker for customers.

If you have a weather app – make sure that the severe weather alert notifications are turned on. That’s a way to stay up to date if you’re mobile and when you’re at home a NOAA weather radio is a good way to stay up to date.
