CLINTON COUNTY, IL — A 20-year-old Centralia man was sentenced Wednesday to 24-months probation in Clinton County Court to the lesser of five felonies stemming from a double shooting incident earlier this year on Centralia’s west side. Dalton Garrison was also fined $1,000 plus assessments and given credit for 256 days served in the Clinton County Jail.

Garrison was arrested in March along with 20-year-old Trevin Hendricks in connection with a shooting at an apartment in the 1700 block of West McCord in Centralia. Police later found a white Mercury SUV had been burnt in what they say was likely an attempt to destroy evidence. The vehicle is said to be owned by Albert Hendricks and witnesses say they saw the SUV fleeing from the scene.

Both victims transported themselves to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia, one with two gunshot wounds and one with one gunshot wound. Both were ultimately transferred to St. Louis area hospitals for treatment.

Garrison was originally charged with three Class X felonies for aggravated battery through the discharge of a firearm, Class 2 felony arson, and Class 4 obstruction of justice. He was sentenced Wednesday on the Class 4 felony obstruction charge with the more serious charges being dismissed.

Hendricks was charged with the same offenses plus two Class 3 felony counts of aggravated battery. He pleaded guilty last month to the two Class 3 charges and the one Class 4. He was sentenced to 30 months probation and ordered to pay $5,000 in fines and assessments.

Both defendants were ordered to have no contact with the two shooting victims Ricardo Little and Andre Johnson.
