SALEM, IL — Bond was set at $50,000 Monday in Marion County Court for a 54-year-old Patoka man charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child under the age of 13. Darrin Jenkins was advised in court of possible penalties if he’s convicted of the single Class X felony charge.

He was also advised that if he’s able to post bail he’s prohibited from having contact with the alleged victim in the case, her residence or anyone under the age of 18. A 17-year-old female reportedly told Marion County Sheriff’s detectives Jenkins had been sexually assaulting her since she was 8-years-old until last year. During their investigation, deputies discovered a 33-year-old woman was possibly a second victim. When deputies contacted her she reportedly told them Jenkins had sexually assaulted her from the time she was six until she was 10-years-old. Jenkins reportedly knew both females personally and the alleged incidents all happened at his home.

He was ultimately taken to the Marion County Jail. He’s next scheduled to appear in court on the case December 16 for a preliminary hearing and a first appearance with his court appointed attorney.
