SALEM, IL — More details have been released in the Monday arrest of a 40-year-old Salem man charged Tuesday morning in Marion County Court with multiple counts of possessing child pornography. Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies led the investigation that resulted in the Monday afternoon arrest of Anthony L. Phillips at his home in Salem.

According to Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Bullard, JCSO’s Detective Captain Bobby Wallace works with Homeland Security’s Cyber Crimes Task Force. Bullard says Wallace received a tip from the Task Force regarding possible child pornography activity in the area. Bullard says a search warrant was first secured to search for records to confirm the location of the activity. A second warrant was then secured to search Phillips’ home in Salem. Marion County Sheriff’s deputies assisted with the search Monday of the home at which time Bullard says evidence in the case was found and seized and Phillips was taken into custody. Phillips was subsequently charged Tuesday morning with 10 counts Class 2 felony counts possessing child pornography depicting a victim under the age of 13. Phillips is being held in the Marion County Jail with bond set at $75,000. He’s next scheduled to appear in court on December 7 for a preliminary hearing and a first appearance with his court-appointed attorney.

If Phillips is able to post bail, he’s prohibited from accessing the internet or having contact with anyone under the age of 18.
