MT. VERNON, IL — The Illinois Department of Transportation is announcing a road closure on Main Street (Illinois 15) at the Evansville Western Railway crossing on South 15th Street in Mt. Vernon.
Beginning today (Wednesday, November 10th) at 8am and concluding on Thursday, November 11, at 7pm, crews from the Evansville Western Railway will be performing repairs on the railroad crossing on westbound (Main) Illinois 15. There will be no traffic permitted through the Main St./South 15th Street crossing during the repairs.
To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of the marked detour should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the downtown Mount Vernon area, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
