WAYNE COUNTY, IL — Two people were injured in a Friday afternoon crash in Wayne County.

According to Illinois State Police, 46-year-old Gregory D. Bergfeld of Teutopolis was driving a truck hauling a trailer northbound on Wayne County Highway 1 just north of Wayne County Road 1975 East when he lost control and went off the roadway to the right. The truck and trailer jackknifed. The truck became separated from the trailer and overturned coming to rest on its roof. Bergfeld and his passenger, 23-year-old Zachery T. Lindsey of Effingham, were both airlifted to a regional hospital with serious injures.
