Bail Reduction denied in Kinmundy woman’s child sex crimes case

MARION COUNTY, IL — A bail reduction request was denied Tuesday for a 31-year-old Kinmundy woman charged in Marion County Court with multiple Class X felonies accusing her of child sex crimes. Bail for Vickie Odem remains $500,000 for a November case charging her with two Class X felony counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13 and four Class X felony counts of child pornography depicting a child under the age of 13. A Class X felony is punishable by between 6 and 30 years in prison.

If Odem is able to post $50,000 cash bond and gain release from the Marion County Jail, she is prohibited from having contact with anyone under the age of 18.The Court on Tuesday ordered Odem to undergo a psycho/sexual evaluation and scheduled her next court hearing for January 12. Odem pleaded not guilty Tuesday after waiving her right to a preliminary hearing and formal arraignment.

The crimes she’s accused of committing are alleged to have occurred in July and August of this year.
