ILLINOIS — Governor J.B. Pritzker announced the IDPH will file emergency rules for businesses, schools, and child care establishments regarding the use of face coverings and the size of gatherings Friday.

The rules give local health departments and law enforcement more room to support and protect community public health.

Pritzker says these rule changes will help the state to not move backward in the fight against COVID-19.

The process for the new emergency rules will include a warning for first violation, ordering patrons to leave the premises the second offense, and fines start at the third offense. The rules will not apply to individuals.

Also, Pritzker announced Friday that he has signed Senate Bill 471, which expands workplace protections for frontline workers and emergency personnel.
