JEFFERSON COUNTY, IL — At 2:30am Monday, Deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office attempted to make a traffic stop on a blue 2010 Chevy at 42nd and Richview Road in Mt. Vernon.

The vehicle fled westbound on Richview Road, avoided stop sticks placed at Richview Road and Woodlawn Lane, and continued west.

The pursuit entered Washington County and the Chevy lost control, ran off the road, and rolled near the intersection of IL-177 and Ash Road in Hoyleton.The Chevy was determined to be stolen out of Monmouth, IL.

The driver, 28-year-old Jakob S. Jones of Carlyle, IL, was taken into custody, transported to Crossroads Hospital for evaluation, and released to be incarcerated at the Jefferson County Justice Center.

Jones’ bond is to be set on the felony charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, aggravated fleeing/attempting to elude, driving while license revoked, and reckless driving.
