MARION COUNTY — A second person has now been arrested in connection with a home invasion at a Salem home last month that resulted in a resident being injured.

Police arrested 30-year-old Christy Johnston, of Salem, on Monday in connection with the January 24 incident at a Marion County Housing Authority apartment in the 1100 block of North Trenary.

Centralia police had taken 25-year-old Devon Gibbs into custody Sunday and held him before he was transported to Salem PD for questioning about the incident.

Gibbs was ultimately charged Monday in Marion County Court with Class X felony home invasion and his bail was set at $200,000.

Johnston was charged Tuesday in Marion County Court with the same Class X felony offense and her bail was set at $100,000.

The pair is accused of going to the apartment and forcing their way in the door when they were told they weren’t welcome.

An altercation reportedly ensued between Gibbs and a female resident of the home.

Gibbs allegedly struck a17-year-old female visitor on the head multiple times with a bat when stepped in on the initial altercation.

The teen was taken to the hospital for treatment of her injuries.
