CARBONDALE — A road construction project is set to begin Monday along Oakland Avenue from Walnut Street to Chautauqua Road in Carbondale.

According to a press release from the City of Carbondale, the reconstruction of Oakland Avenue will be constructed in three phases with the first phase of work being performed from Walnut to Freeman Street starting Monday. This section of Oakland Avenue will be closed to all through traffic while the work is being performed. Access will only be allowed to residents with driveways in the construction area.

The project calls for the removal and replacement of the existing pavement with new concrete pavement and curb and gutters. dedicated bicycle lanes in each direction, the removal and replacement of the existing sidewalks and driveway aprons and replacement of the existing storm sewer
