FRANKLIN COUNTY — Franklin County Board Chairman Randall Crocker says the county is still on schedule to move the County Treasurer, County Clerk, Circuit Clerk and the courts out of the courthouse and into the Campbell Building by the end of this month so demolition can be scheduled to make way for construction of the new courthouse on the Benton Square.

Demolition of the old courthouse was set to begin this spring, but Crocker now says that’s “a little bit up in the air right now.”

The new courthouse is set to open sometime in late 2021. At that time, the courts and Circuit Clerk’s office will move back to the courthouse. The County Treasurer and County Clerk’s office will stay permanently at the Campbell Building.

Also, a special Franklin County Board meeting to discuss the budget for the new courthouse will be held Friday morning at 11 at the Campbell Building in Benton. The meeting will be open to the public.
