WAMAC, IL — An investigation into a retail theft in Centralia not only led to the arrest of a 39-year-old Mt. Vernon man but also to the recovery of a vehicle reported stolen in Jefferson County.
Wamac police arrested Lucas Lemay following a traffic stop Thursday. During the stop it was found the vehicle he was driving had been reported stolen out of Mt. Vernon.

Officers also reportedly found items in the car that had apparently been taken from the Centralia Walmart.

Lemay was taken to the Marion County Jail and was charged in court Friday with Class 2 felony possession of a stolen vehicle.

He was in Marion County Court Tuesday for a hearing in a case charging him with criminal trespass for an alleged incident in May.

The items found in the vehicle at the time of his arrest could lead to additional charges being filed in Clinton County Court.
