BENTON, IL — The Franklin County Board made a change to a recent ordinance prohibiting the sale of recreational cannabis in unincorporated parts of Franklin County at Tuesday night’s meeting.

County Board Chairman Randall Crocker says the change has to do with the amount of tax that will be charged on cannabis that is sold in the incorporated parts of the county. The ordinance, passed in October, set the tax rate at three-quarters of a percent.

Crocker says nothing else in the ordinance was changed at the meeting.
