MARION COUNTY — Marion County Sheriff’s deputies investigating a squatter complaint in Kell over the weekend arrested a 27-year-old Centralia man for alleged possession of methamphetamine.

Preston Rinne was formally charged Monday in Marion County court with Class 3 felony possession of meth. His bail was set at $3,000.

According to reports, deputies responding to the squatter complaint found someone had set up a tent in a farm field off Shannafelt Road.

No one was present when deputies first visited the site Saturday afternoon, but they did reportedly locate a loaded rifle in the tent.

When they returned to the site after midnight Sunday, deputies found people were there.

A subsequent search of Rinne’s vehicle reportedly revealed less than 5-grams of meth. He was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail.

He’s next due to appear in court October 31 for a preliminary hearing and first appearance with his court appointed attorney.
