MOUNT VERNON — A 31-year-old Mt. Vernon man was arrested early Tuesday morning after Mt. Vernon police officers reportedly found him laying on a picnic table at a church in the 2400 block of Broadway.
Charles Patterson was arrested for alleged possession of a firearm and possession of less than 5-grams of methamphetamine.
Just before 2 a.m. Tuesday, an MVPD officer reportedly observed Patterson laying on a picnic table at First Presbyterian Church. As the officer approached, he observed a handgun laying next to Patterson. Patterson was sleeping and the officer secured the firearm. The officer woke Patterson and detained him.
A plastic bag of suspected meth was also located in the area. Patterson was arrested and charged with felon in possession of a firearm and possession of less than 5 grams of methamphetamine.
