FAYETTE COUNTY — A 33-year-old man wanted in connection with an overnight shooting has been captured in Fayette County after authorities had him contained for several hours in an area north of Shobonier.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Trevor McCammack was taken into custody shortly before 9 a.m. Monday.

While McCammack was at large, authorities urged the public in the Shobonier area to be alert as he was believed to be armed and dangerous.

Fayette County Sheriff Chris Smith says his office received a call around 3:18 a.m. Monday from a person in rural Shobonier saying a man showed up at his house covered in blood and saying he had been shot.

Upon their arrival, deputies reportedly found the man had been shot four times. He was transported to the Fayette County Hospital before being transferred to a Springfield area hospital.

McCammack was contained to an area north of OB’s Place, a gaming bar northeast of U.S. 51.

He was ultimately taken into custody after he was located in a farm field north of the Shobonier business.
