MARION COUNTY — A burglary charge against a 40-year-old Centralia man was dismissed Tuesday in Marion County court but a new charge was filed for alleged delivery of methamphetamine.

Brian Hartnell Sr., was arrested in August on a Class 2 felony charge of burglary in connection with an August burglary of a home in the 200 block of Mills Road in Walnut Hill.

A 34-year-old Centralia woman was also arrested in connection with that burglary. Christin Page was arrested before Hartnell and was ultimately released on bond. She failed to appear in the case last week and her case has been rescheduled for October 31.

Meanwhile, prosecutors elected Tuesday to not pursue the burglary charge against Hartnell for which he’s been held in the Marion County Jail since his arrest with bail set at $20,000.

But rather than being released, a new charge of Class 2 felony delivery of meth was filed against Hartnell and bail was set at $50,000.

At the time of his August arrest, Hartnell was on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections for a 2018 conviction for the battery and strangling a woman riding in his van. He was scheduled to be released from parole just days after his arrest.
