MT. VERNON — Two Mt. Vernon police officers were awarded for their distinguished service at Monday night’s city council meeting.

Officers Travis Pendley and Sara Peas were recognized for their bravery and service saving people from an apartment building fire.

Mt. Vernon Police Chief Trent Page describes the incident at the Short Street Apartments on June 13th.

Both Peas and Pendley have been serving with the Mt. Vernon Police Department for over two years.
