WILLIAMSON COUNTY — A Carbondale woman was killed Monday morning when police say her vehicle drifted into the oncoming lane and hit a tractor trailer.

Illinois State Police say just after 11:30 a.m. Monday, a Toyota passenger car driven by a 90-year-old Carbondale woman was driving northbound on Route 148 at Ogden Road in Williamson County when she drifted into the southbound lane, striking the tractor trailer driven by 48-year-old Todd Bailey of Vienna. Bailey suffered non-incapacitating injuries. The female suffered fatal injuries.

Illinois State Police and the Williamson County Coroner’s Office are still investigating the crash. Williamson County Coroner Junior Burke says an autopsy will be done Tuesday.

Her identity is not being released pending notification of family members. The crash is under investigation.
