ILLINOIS (RFD) — With legal recreational marijuana on the way in Illinois the state’s medical program is going to expand too. Dating to 2013 it was launched as a pilot program with an expiration date. Now it will continue and expand. The program started with plenty of skeptics but House Republican Leader Jim Durkin says years of experience and hearing from patients helped him understand that the program is worth keeping.

There will be more conditions that now qualify for a medical marijuana card – they include anorexia, migraines, irritable bowl and chronic pain. The details will be official when the governor signs the bill.
