MT. VERNON — WMIX/WDML brings you part 10 of a two-week series on the contested races for the school boards of Mt. Vernon City Schools District 80, Mt. Vernon Township High School District 201, and the Mt. Vernon City Council.

Today we have one of the candidates running for Mt. Vernon City Council, Donte Moore who says his top priorities include changing out street lights, cleaning up alleyways, and making the city safer overall.

However, aside from bettering the city’s infrastructure and safety, Moore says he wants to see police-public relations improve.

A hot-button issue in Mt. Vernon is the East side railroad crossing.

Moore says raising money is the biggest hurdle with this project but says the best plan is to continue conversations with the committee.

The other candidates running for Mt. Vernon City Council are Raymond Botch and Mike McDonough.
