CARMI – A Carmi woman is facing drug charges after Carmi Police were called by the Egyptian Health Department to do a welfare check on the woman at 911 Stewart Street around 9:20 Wednesday morning.

When police arrived, they found 38-year-old Sarah R. McKenzie holding a glass pipe that later tested positive for meth.

After a lengthy conversation between police and the health department, McKenzie was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia. A later check revealed McKenzie was wanted out of Saline County on a 2015 felony retail theft warrant with a bond of $2,000 cash.

McKenzie was taken to the White County Jail pending the setting of bond.

McKenzie was released from jail just after 1:30 Wednesday afternoon on her own recognizance. Saline County also released her on her own recognizance due to medical issues.
