House lawmakers are hearing testimony on a bill requiring gun dealers to be licensed by the state.

The legislature passed the bill, but Governor Bruce Rauner vetoed it, saying it’s too burdensome. A house committee is gauging support for a veto override, but the NRA’s John Weber says there are several issues.

Opponents argue the federal government already licenses gun dealers and more regulations would put some out of business. Lawmakers could move to override the governor’s veto or pass a more palatable version.
