The Illinois State Police will be running a special enforcement detail all day today to make sure truck drivers are being safe.

“Operation Sauter 2018” is a 24 hour safety blitz held in honor of Trooper James Sauter who was killed by a semi-truck on I-294 five years ago says Sergeant Mike Link.

Sergeant Link says the blitz includes motor carrier safety checks and commercial motor vehicle enforcement.

Link also reminds motorists about “Scott’s Law,” requiring drivers to move over to the far lane if a car is stopped on the side of the road.
