TAMMS, Ill. (AP) — Authorities say a house fire in the southern Illinois village of Tamms has killed a man. Relatives and the Jones Funeral Home in Tamms say 65-year-old Bill Dunning died in the blaze before dawn Wednesday. Coroner Willie Bingham tells the (Carbondale) Southern Illinoisan the fire’s origin does not appear to be suspicious, though he had no other immediate details about the blaze. Bingham says others inside the house managed to escape the fire. An autopsy will be conducted to determine an exact cause of Dunning’s death. Tamms is in Alexander County, in southernmost Illinois.
