MT. VERNON, IL — Governor JB Pritzker extended the stay-at-home order through the month of May and in doing so, he promised modifications would be made. We’re seeing some of that here in southern Illinois as University Mall in Carbondale and Times Square Mall in Mt. Vernon are set to reopen their doors Friday.

In a release from Namdar Realty Group, which operates both malls, they stated the malls will operate with several guidelines in place. Included in these guidelines will be measures such as employees washing and sanitizing their hands after interacting with any customers.

Employees are also required to disinfect any item a customer comes into contact with and to utilize hands-free remote payment or at least minimize contact if that option is unavailable.

Stores will have employees on-hand to deliver purchased items to the customer’s vehicle to minimize physical contact.

Both malls will also be operating on limited hours, opening at 11am and closing by 7pm.
