(SALEM, IL) — A high-speed pursuit with Kinmundy police Saturday has landed a 19-year-old Edgewood man in the Marion County Jail. Michael Whipple was ultimately taken into custody for alleged driving while license revoked, aggravated fleeing and eluding, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, expired registration, and unlawful use of registration. The pursuit began after Kinmundy police attempted a traffic stop on Whipple for allegedly speeding near the Route 37 and Kinoka Road intersection. Rather than stopping, Whipple reportedly fled on Kinoka Road to northbound Interstate 57. He then took the Farina exit, headed east on Route 185 and back to Route 37, where he then headed north. Whipple then reportedly lost control at the intersection of Route 37 and Altamont Road. His truck spun out and landed in a roadside ditch. He was already out of his vehicle when officers arrived on the scene. Whipple was taken into custody without further delay. A passenger in the truck was released without charge.
