ST. LIBORY, Ill. (AP) — A former mayor of the southern Illinois community of St. Libory has died in a work-related accident. The Daviess County Coroner’s Office in Kentucky said 67-year-old Richard “Preacher” Thessing was killed Monday when a metal door frame fell on him in Owensboro. The Belleville News Democrat reports Thessing was working as a truck driver and was unloading the metal door frame at the time. Workplace safety officials are investigating the incident. Thessing was a retired coal miner and semi-retired truck driver who served as the mayor of St. Libory for 28 years. St. Libory is about 35 miles southeast of St. Louis.
