(SALEM, IL) — Illinois State Police is reporting the arrest of a 67-year-old Kinmundy man after Homeland Security intercepted a kilogram of bath salts being shipped to his home. According to ISP, their Drug Task Forces from Collinsville and Effingham arrested Robert Lane at his Faye Road home Tuesday in Kinmundy. Lane’s arrest came after agents with Homeland Security reportedly intercepted a package from China that contained the 1,000 grams of bath salts and was to be delivered to Lane’s Kinmundy home. Lane was taken into custody for alleged possession to deliver a controlled substance. He was transported to the Marion County Jail where he awaits the formal filing of charges. In 2003 Lane was charged in Marion County court with felony possession of between 30 and 500 grams of cannabis. The case moved through the Marion County court system until 2006, but no further court action has been taken in the last decade and according to the Marion County Circuit Clerk’s office the case remains open. Online records indicate Lane was in Kentucky in 2006.
