(BENTON, IL) — A West Frankfort man was sentenced Wednesday in Franklin County Court to 30 years in state prison for aggravated battery stemming from a shooting that took place in Franklin County in October 2014. According to Franklin County State’s Attorney Evan Owens, 23-year-old Koby S. Humerickhouse will also have three years of mandatory supervised release following his prison sentence. He was not sentenced on an attempted murder charge in the case.  We contacted the State’s Attorney’s office regarding that charge, but have not received any information at this time.  On Oct. 14, 2014, Humerickhouse shot John Ferketich in the back of the neck with a 12-gauge shotgun around 6:15 a.m. at the victim’s home on Sandberg Road.
