(NASHVILLE, IL) — Icy roads are being blamed for a fatal wreck Friday night in Washington County, and another Saturday in Clay County. According to Illinois State Police, around 6 p.m. Friday, a van driving on Route 153 just south of County Highway 10 hit an icy patch and slid into oncoming traffic crashing into a pickup truck head on. A 23-year-old male passenger in the van, Robert Loouveau of Addieville, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending the notification of his family. The driver of the van, 45-year-old Becka Heitman, of Addieville, and the driver of the pickup truck, 60-year-old Klif Kline, of Coulterville were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The crash closed the road for nearly 5 hours are crews responded and cleared the scene. And a 30-year-old Louisville man was killed early Saturday morning in a crash in Clay County. Illinois State Police say around 2 a.m., Saturday, Henry Rockwood was traveling west on Athens Lane when his vehicle left the roadway to the south, drove off a bridge and overturned. The car came to rest upside down at the bottom of the creek bed. Clay County Coroner Wesley Miller pronounced Rockwood dead at the scene.
