(Marion County, MO) — The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is warning people in the area of a new scam. Authorities say there are a number of people getting phone calls from scammers who are demanding money from them for not showing up for jury duty. Sheriff officials say the fraudsters are impersonating sheriff’s deputies and giving phony badge numbers. The sheriff’s department does not call and demand money at any time. If anyone receives a call of this sort, contact your police department.
