(MT. VERNON, IL) — The Christmas spirit was on display Tuesday in Mt. Vernon, when thanks to an anonymous donor, Mt. Vernon police officers had a fun assignment — handing out cash to local residents. According to the police department, an anonymous donor contacted them wanting to make a cash donation. The donor asked that officers take to the streets of Mt. Vernon and hand out the cash to make somebody’s Christmas a little bit better. Patrol officers and detectives both got in on the fun.
