(East St. Louis, IL) — St. Clair County State’s Attorney Brendan Kelly says something needs to be done to clean up the crime in East St. Louis. Speaking to a crowd at a Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce breakfast Wednesday, Kelly stated that crime in the area is being used as an excuse not to invest in St. Clair County by developers. Kelly says the State’s Attorney’s Office has helped reform police departments, and increased prosecutions to help battle the issues.
