Darla Adkins, 54 of Mt. Vernon sadly passed away on April 16, 2026. She was the heart of her family, leaving behind 4 children who were her pride and joy, and five grandchildren who brought endless light to her life.
She found joy in life’s simple moments and in the people she loved most. Her presence will be missed deeply but forever cherished by all who knew her. Whether through her comforting words, warm home, or quiet sacrifices, she created a lasting legacy of care and compassion.
Darla is survived by her children; Elijah Adkins, Abagail Adkins, Tessa Adkins and Zion Robinson of Mt. Vernon along, with her daughter-in-law Nicole Adkins and 5 grandchildren: Ava, Tobias, Jace, Nolan and Adalyn. Along with them, she is survived by her 5 older siblings: Samuel, Matthew, Daniel, Julie and Cathy.
Darla was preceded in death by her parents Marvin & Barbara (Plemons) Settle and her first husband Ricky Lee Adkins.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday April 25th at the Johnston Funeral Home in Ina with Pastor Paul Holsapple officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 P.M. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Kirk Cemetery in Ina.
