
Karole Kay Meyer, age 92 of Salem, passed away at her home on Thursday, November 27, 2025.
Karole was born on June 23, 1933, in Du Quoin, IL the daughter of Karl and Helen Elizabeth “Liz” (Cordon) Pflanz. She married Robert “Bob” Meyer on June 30, 1956, in Belleville and he survives in Salem.
In addition to her husband Bob, survivors include five children, Kandy Kozel and husband Charles of Pearland, TX, Bret Meyer and wife Erin of Cincinnati, OH, Michelle “Miki” Fields and husband Jerry of Newburgh, IN, Duane Meyer and wife Linda of Austin, TX, and Fawn Cogswell and husband Mitch of Bloomington, IL; daughter-in-law, Laura Meyer of Paducah, KY; 12 grandchildren, Bryan, Amber Tyler, Andrew, Shannon, Taryn, Cameron, Alec, Ben, Claire, Levi, and Makenzie; nine great-grandchildren with one more on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jeffrey Jon Meyer; and a sister, Sheila.
Karole worked as a school teacher; she had a love for teaching elementary students and volunteered many hours of her time after her retirement. She attended the First Christian Church in Salem. Being a grandma brought her great joy.
Funeral Services for Karole Kay Meyer will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Interment will be in Metropolis Memorial Gardens, with a graveside service at 2:30 pm on Wednesday. Memorials can be made to Residential Hospice and can be received at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem who is assisting the family with arrangements.
